Milford, OH, 12 November 2015 – On November 18, 2015 Asa Trainer, ‎Vice President of Product Operations at ITI, is to lead a think tank discussion on the important topic “Understanding the Levels of a Model Based Enterprise” at the Product Innovation USA event (PI Congress) in Boston, Massachusetts.

Industry pressures are creating momentum for manufacturers to adopt the model-based enterprise (MBE). However, this approach raises questions for many companies about potential ROI, the optimal approach and transition protocol. Other challenges companies face when considering a move to MBE include concerns about the state of technology to support MBE, understanding whether or not MBE works for a particular industry or type of data, and the level of maturity of the toolsets that support MBE.

The think tank discussion at this year’s PI Congress event in Boston is structured to address some of these questions while Asa Trainer, think tank discussion leader, shares best practice insights from a company who specializes in interoperability solutions. “Because ITI is in the unique position to support a wide variety of companies at various levels of MBE engagement, we have the experience to help open the door to MBE for other companies. Our interoperability, integration, migration and validation solutions are frequently used in MBE initiatives. This session will be terrific for anyone in manufacturing who is interested in the level of maturity of MBE/MBD and who wants to see where it is going before they embark on their own MBE journey. By attending this session, customers who may be sitting on the fence will gain confidence in moving forward with MBE,” remarked Asa Trainer, Vice President of Product Operations, ITI.

According to Trainer, some of the topics that will be covered in this session include how to evaluate the effectiveness of your CAD systems and translators, as well as their readiness for the MBE, the continuum of opportunities and gradual steps that can be taken to move to MBE, where technology fits in the process, and potential obstacles along the way.

“Attendees at this event have similar requirements and challenges regarding moving product manufacturing data around and within their ecosystem, between their enterprise and outside suppliers. ITI can help support MBE initiative so that companies can focus on innovation and making great products,” added Trainer. “Two of the major obstacles I’ve seen are culture and inertia. It takes a great deal to reset a course, but large companies stand to benefit the most from MBE. That’s why a gradual implementation plan makes sense, and why making an internal cultural shift, training, and understanding potential ROI are so important. I look forward to leading this session at the PI Congress because there are many potential benefits for companies when they move to MBE.”
