ITI announces participation in the NIST Model-Based Enterprise Summit

Milford, OH, 14 March 2017 – International TechneGroup Incorporated (ITI), the global leader providing reliable interoperability, validation and migration solutions for product data and related systems, is pleased to participate in the Model-Based Enterprise Summit hosted by NIST, April 3-7, 2017.

The purpose of the MBE Summit is to identify challenges, research, implementation issues, and lessons learned in manufacturing and quality assurance where a 3D model of the product serves as the authoritative information source for all activities in the product's lifecycle. This year’s theme is “Normalizing the Model-Based Enterprise.”

ITI will participate in two presentations at the MBE Summit. The first, titled “Supply Chain MBE/TDP Improvement,” will cover the advances made by the Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute (DMDII) project in which ITI is participating, along with a team of industry organizations including 3rd Dimension, Anark Corporation, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, and Purdue University. This project aims to push MBE technologies forward by streamlining the design stage of the manufacturing process.

The second presentation, “Enabling Automated CNC Measurement on the Digital Thread,” will be given by Will Sobel of Systems Insights and Martin Hardwick of STEP Tools, Inc. This is also a DMDII project. Led by STEP Tools, and including System Insights, Mitutoyo America Corporation, and ITI, this program seeks to illustrate how the digital thread is used to help automate on-machine measurement during the manufacturing process and increase productivity by delivering model data to the shop floor. “In this project ITI is responsible for converting STEP AP242 data with PMI from CAD and CAM into extended ACIS for consumption by CMM planning,” explained Asa Trainer, ITI Vice President of Product Operations. “ITI is also responsible for converting QIF Results data from CMM’s post-execution analysis back into STEP AP242 and appending it to the original STEP data. The linking of data between applications is enabled by carrying Universal Unique IDentifiers (UUIDs) along the entire process. Doing so facilitates traceability through the process and allows the ability to supply metrology feedback to all constituents – CAD, CAM, and CMM Planning. The work is truly ground breaking, and we look forward to presenting it to the MBE Summit members.”

ITI has supported the NIST MBE Summit for the past 5 years. The enhanced program for 2017 includes new technical tracks for Systems Engineering, Design, Manufacturing and Quality. “The new format of the MBE Summit is a testament to the growth of MBE adoption and the importance of education,” states Trainer. “ITI sees a growing need for design and manufacturing teams to implement validation tools like our CADIQ solution, which offers quality checking, derivative file validation, and change documentation in the MBE product development environment,” continued Trainer.

ITI’s CADIQ, a vendor-neutral application, identifies model-based design (MBD) data quality issues that impact downstream re-use for manufacturing, simulation, data exchange and collaboration. CADIQ enables you to validate critical engineering processes including engineering change, revision control and manufacturability. Key capabilities of CADIQ include derivative validation, revision comparison, and quality checking.

CADIQ compares geometry, design features and product manufacturing information (PMI) between related models to identify significant differences. CADIQ also performs CAD assembly analysis, comparing CAD assembly structure. Results can be reviewed in the standalone CADIQ Viewer as well as summary text and statistical reports. www.iti-global.com/cadiq
